The Portmann Foundation organizes from 25th to 29th June 2018 a course of dissection of the temporal bone and middle ear. Course director is Didier Portmann, son of Michel and grandson of Georges Portmann.
3 days course are designed to present and teach all essential operative procedures in surgery for otosclerosis, implantable hearing devices, ossicular reconstruction, chronic suppurative otitis media and cholesteatoma of the middle ear.
Temporal bone e skull base are the most complex area of the human body. The dissection of temporal bone is the surgical approach most important for surgery of the middle and internal ear.

Session 1 - Otosclerosis
Session 2 - Ossicular reconstruction
Session 3 - The latest in implantable hearing devices
Session 4 - CSOM (Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media) with and without cholesteatoma

Georges Portmann (1890 - 1985) was the first otolaryngologist to perform the opening of the endolymphatic sac in 1926 to treat Meniere's disease. He was the author of "A treatise of the surgical technique of otorhinolaringology" (31 editions published between 1932 and 1981) and numerous other publications.
